The new reverse was designed by the artist Emily Damstra and sculpted by U. Mint Engraver Michael Gaudioso. It features an eagle as it approaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as if to add it to it’s nest. Also included in the reverse design are the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, “1 OZ FINE SILVER” and “ONE DOLLAR”. This 2021 WS Reverse Proof 2-coin Silver Eagle set includes both the original Type 1 and the new Type 2 Silver Eagle’s as part of the exclusive Designer Edition set. The Type 1 Silver Eagle was struck at the West Point Mint and bears the “W” mintmark. The Type 2 Silver Eagle was struck at the San Francisco Mint and bears the “S” mintmark.
