Beginning in 1992, the Mint introduced a special version of the annual proof set in which the dime, quarter, and half dollar are struck in 90% silver, which had not been used for circulating coins since 1964. Each set contains 1 Lincoln cent, 1 Jefferson nickel, 1 silver Roosevelt dime, 1 silver Washington quarter, and 1 silver Kennedy half dollar. You will receive 7 sets in the original government packaging, one from each of the years 1992 to 1998, for a total of 35 coins. About Proof Sets:Since the early 1800’s, the U. Mint has issued special proof coins minted exclusively for collectors. These coins are the finest quality ever produced. The blanks are specially treated, hand-polished, and cleaned before being struck with specially polished dies at least twice to ensure great detail. The resulting coins are of exceptional quality and have deeply mirrored finishes with intricate designs. In 1936, the Mint began assembling proof coins into prepackaged sets. Nearly a century later, these annual coin sets continue to be one of the most popular ways to collect coins. Although the packaging has changed over time, the basic concept remains- each proof set contains one example of every coin minted during a given year. However, the coins in these vintage sets may show light toning and the packaging may show light wear, commensurate with their age. Mint certificates of authenticity will be provided for each set if they were originally offered. An Olevian Numismatic Rarities certificate will also be included with the collection.
