The majority of the coins in these sets are in Choice Proof condition. Detailed exceptions to this are listed in the notes below. The 1971 set does not come in a box. All other sets come in the OGP and have COA (where applicable). The photos are of the actual inventory so examine carefully before purchasing. 1971- set does not come in a box. The nickel and penny are toned and the quarter is toned along the edge. 1980- The Susan B Anthony Dollar and the Kennedy half-dollar coins are slightly toned. 1981- set has a tiny crack in the case. 1984- The Kennedy half-dollar, nickel and quarter are slightly toned. 1986- the quarter and dime are toned along the edges. 1988- Kennedy half- dollar is slightly toned along the edge. 1989- The obverse side of the quarter is lightly toned. The reverse side if the nickel is lightly toned. The Kennedy half-dollar is lightly toned along the edge on the reverse side. The 1960 through 1965 sets come in original US Mint envelopes and the. 1966 through 1969 sets are in the change over original US Mint boxes. From the United States Mint (San Francisco Mint). Each set includes the following 5 coins for each year. The 1965 1966 and 1967 sets are the SMS – Special Mint Sets made for those years. A special mint set often (referred to as an SMS), is a set of coins issued by the U. Mint from 1965 to 1967. These coins are characterized by a better than average strike, since they were struck on higher-tonnage coin presses than circulation strike coins, but they were not struck as Proofs. SMS coins do not have any mint marks. Special mint sets consist of one coin of each circulating type in the year it was issued: cent, nickel, dime, quarter, and half-dollar. The coins were sealed in special packaging. In 1965, a clear vinyl soft plastic called “pliofilm” was used; in 1966 and 1967, the coins were placed into hard plastic cases.
