Canada 2017 Commemorative Pure Silver 7-Coin Proof Set 1967 Centennial Coins
Canada 2017 Commemorative Pure Silver 7-Coin Proof Set – 1967 Centennial Coins. All coins offered in this listing are unsearched! (see Additional Information below). All of our Canadian coins are acquired directly from the Royal Canadian Mint – The counterfeiting of numismatic coins, and the sale of stolen coins, are serious problems for coin collectors and dealers. Unlike many other coin dealers. To protect against these risks, we do not sell’second-hand’ coins. All of our Canadian coins are stored in a climate controlled, smoke-free vault. The year 1967 represented a momentous time in Canada’s history, when the young nation enthusiastically celebrated the 100th anniversary of Confederation. As part of that year-long celebration, the Royal Canadian Mint issued a unique set of Canadian circulation coins that bore a reverse design by acclaimed artist Alex Colville. Strikingly simple but unquestionably elegant, these now-iconic coins featured animals symbolic of Canada’s natural legacy, in an eloquent display of the artist’s vision of the nation a vision just as relevant today, as Canada celebrates its 150th anniversary. The beloved 1967 Canadian Centennial coins are truly unforgettable; they are coveted collectibles that are prized for their historical value and aesthetic beauty, but also cherished for igniting the passion of many life-long coin collectors. Never before have these iconic designs been featured in 99.99% pure silver! THE 1967 CENTENNIAL COIN DESIGNS! A contemporary re-issue of the 1967 Centennial coins, as they appeared in the 1967 Specimen Set, featuring each denomination in its original size! EACH COIN STRUCK IN 99.99% PURE SILVER! These coins are the highest quality of silver available from the Royal Canadian Mint, and a higher purity level than seen in the original 1967 coins. METICULOUS ENGRAVING OF EACH SUBJECT HIGHLIGHTED! The proof quality of the coins is enhanced with modern polishing techniques that highlight the meticulous engraving of each subject. OBVERSE FEATURES THE SECOND EFFIGY OF HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II! For added historical authenticity, the obverse features the second effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as it appeared on the 1967 circulation coins. COMES IN GENUINE LEATHER, BOOK-STYLE PACKAGING! Provides an elegant way to proudly showcase these coins together. The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins. Most of these are serialized certifications, meaning that each certificate is given a unique number, starting at 1. For our Canadian customers, this coin set is GST/HST exempt with a limited worldwide mintage. All seven coins are crafted in 99.99% pure silver, with each one bearing a similar reverse design as the 1967 Centennial set of circulation coins designed by Canadian artist Alex Colville. Precision engraving recreates the iconic rock dove, rabbit, mackerel, bobcat, wolf, and Canada goose featured on the 1-cent, 5-cent, 10-cent, 25-cent, 50-cent and 1-dollar coins, respectively. Each coin has been carefully polished to ensure a stunning proof finish that showcases the artistry and expert craftsmanship behind this timely tribute to some of Canada’s most beloved coins. The obverse features the second effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin. For the Centennial coins, Canadian artists, sculptors and designers were invited to submit their coinage designs in a competition launched in 1964. Without a clear winner, the panel of judges invited five more artists to submit their coin concept ideas. On April 20, 1966, a winner was announced: Canadian painter Alex Colville, who is remembered today for famous pieces such as Horse and Train and To Prince Edward Island. In 2012, The Canadian Design Resource declared the 1967 Centennial coins to be among the all-time best Canadian designs. These coins are encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded genuine leather, book-style packaging that provides an elegant way to proudly showcase these coins together. Unsearched All of the coins offered in this listing are unsearched. Many coin dealers search all coins when they are received from the Mint. They “cherry-pick” the best coins. Then submit them to be graded, certified, and slabbed by PCGS, NGC, ANACS, etc. When a dealer searches coins, those that they sell in original Mint packaging are only lesser quality coins. Photos: When a listing offers multiples of the same coin, one coin is picked at random and photographed. Since all coins offered in that listing are essentially identical, the coin photographed is representative of all coins offered. Surface areas that appear black on some proof coin photos are actually highly polished, mirror-bright metal reflecting the color of the camera. We often include proof coin photos with the coin slightly tilted to better depict the mirror bright surfaces. However, tilting the coin may result in one side being slightly out of focus. Please review all of the photos provided to obtain the best understanding of the coin’s actual appearance. Whenever possible, we use actual photos of our coins, rather than just stock artwork from the Mint. We frequently update and upgrade the photos that appear with our listings, using improved cameras and lenses and better lighting. We will honor your requests for additional photos as quickly as our schedule permits. Get the COMPLETE COLLECTION of all FIVE adorable, hard-to-find and phenomenally popular Bush Babies pure silver proofs – Kangaroo, Sugar Glider, Dingo, Bilby and Koala! The native Australian fauna has generated curiosity since the first Europeans set foot on the island continent. Most Australian mammals belong to the class. Characterized by a distinctive pouch (called the marsupium), in which females carry their young through early infancy. These young are unique in that they are born helpless and live the mother’s pouch before being able to venture forth to explore their habitat. Celebrating five adorable baby animals. The stunning and phenomenally popular Bush Babies Program. Proof collector coins has enjoyed the incredible popularity of the Sea Life – The Reef series. Get the complete set of 5 while we still have them all! Notice that each baby Australian animal has a small insect “friend” to accompany him! Bush Babies 5-Coin Animal Pure Silver Proof Set. Of the Bush Babies Series. Minted in 99.9% pure silver by the Perth Mint, and includes coins featuring the following native Australian marsupials except the dingo. Your Own Personal Art Gallery! Another clever innovation and a neat little bonus! Is the colorfully illustrated outer box shipper. Each features a different, original commission by the designer of the coins, artist Elise Martinson (please see the section lower in this presentation for a short biography of the artist). When lined-up in release order, the outer boxes will form a gallery of original artworks of the five baby critters by a well-known, Australian animal artist. Five coin display box. May be available at a nominal additional charge. This is a superb way to protect and present all five coins in their full color, illustrated cases. The creator of the original artwork for both the coins and the colorful, outer boxes for the Bush Babies series. Elise is an Australian artist, graphic designer, and illustrator who loves animals. As you can see from her photo! After studying multimedia design for four years and then working for year and a half as a graphic designer, she became eager to follow her dreams of creating 3D art for games or movies. Realizing that the limiting factor to 2D and 3D artwork was not software knowledge, but rather the ability to create concepts and accurately render them, she is now dedicated to further cultivating her drawing ability. Elise currently designs both coins and graphic artwork for the Perth Mint, and still hopes to break into the games industry one day as a concept or production artist. Several of her better-known projects for the Mint are the Outer Space Dollars 9-Coin Set. The Backyard Bugs Dollars 9-Coin Set. Elise was formerly a resident of Melbourne, Victoria but now resides in Perth, Western Australia. Here are links for Elise Martinson’s online blog. And her professional website. The Bush Babies Pure Silver Proofs with Color. It’s no secret that these have proven phenomenally popular, and, as a result, hard to find. These are very scarce issues that will continue to get harder and harder for collectors to find as time goes on. The Perth Mint of Australia employs its own proprietary colorization technology, in which the color is actually sealed on the coin. The vibrant hues and precise execution of the technology create a stunning, full-color portrait on each coin. The central, color image is Australian artist Elise Martinsons original and gorgeous interpretation of a baby native Australian mammal. Each cute and cuddly critter is set against a background of indigenous Australian flora, engraved in frosted cameo relief, and includes his insect friend. The Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark is judiciously hidden in the grasses. The legend on each coin names the animal. Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II of England, in crowned profile facing right. This portrait, featuring Her Majesty wearing a tiara and pearl earrings, was executed by the sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley. The legend ELIZABETH II, the date of issue and denomination also appear. The legend 1/2 OZ 999 SILVER guarantees the weight and purity. Each coin is encapsulated inside a handsome taupe leatherette, clamshell-style presentation case, lined with black velvet and satin, and protected by a full-color outer box. An individually-numbered certificate of authenticity is included. Perth Mint of Australia. 77.955 g (5 x 15.591 g). 10,000 each single coin. 999 Fine (Pure) Silver. Elise Martinson (obverse) Ian Rank-Broadley (reverse). Is a truly unique animal, looking like a living stuffed animal, and the young bear depicted here is no exception – we think he may be the cutest of all the Bush Babies! Like three of the other four mammals of the Bush Babies Program. The koala is a marsupial the Dingo. Is the only non-marsupial of the bunch. The baby koala depicted on this coin looks contented as he sits against a background of golden wattle, waratah and flowering gums, fat and sassy with his cicada friend. A Most Unusual and Surprising Bear! Despite its appearance, the koala bear. Isn’t really a bear at all, but rather a marsupial. Nonetheless it fascinates us because it’s so darn cute – it looks like a living teddy bear! Appearances can be deceiving here, too, because koalas aren’t cuddly, either. They are arboreal (tree-dwelling), so they have very strong, sharp claws for climbing (and their bite can cause injury, as well). Koala bears live nearly their entire lives in the eucalyptus (gum) tree, where they feed almost exclusively on its leaves. They have a very low metabolism for a mammal, so they spend up to 20 hours a day resting and sleeping (and the rest mostly eating). Eucalypt leaves are high in toxic chemicals such as phenols and terpenes, which only the koala has adapted to deal with – the toxins are neutralized in its specialized liver. Marsupials are unusual, and, many scientists believe, more primitive, mammals. Their best-known characteristic is the pouch for their young, and the koala is no exception. The babies, called joeys, are only a quarter-inch long when born, and enter the world hairless, blind and earless, so the safety of mother koala’s pouch is a necessity for its first six months of life. For its second half-year the joey will generally ride on mom’s back. See the article at the end of this presentation for some Koala Fun Facts! You’d think that it couldn’t get any more odd than a living stuffed animal that spends its entire life in, and only eats the leaves of, one kind of tree. If so, you’d be wrong – koalas are among Nature’s most unusual and unique creatures. Here’s a couple of other oddities about these fascinating fur balls. Koalas are often thought to be silent, and they are most of the time, but males have a very loud mating call that can be heard for a distance of about one kilometer away during the breeding season! When attacked, koalas may issue a loud cry, which is often likened to that of a human baby. The koala bear is one of the few mammals (other than primates) that has fingerprints. Koala fingerprints are remarkably similar to human fingerprints – even when viewed with an electron microscope, it can be quite difficult for an expert to distinguish between the two! 2019 – Pride of Two Nations – Pure Silver Proof Coin Two-Coin Set. To celebrate the two countries’ independent spirit and long-standing partnership, the Royal Canadian Mint and United States Mint are proud to join together in presenting the 2019 Pride of Two Nations Limited Edition Two-Coin Set. This beautifully rendered and unique special set commemorates Canada’s and the United States’ nationhood with coins that capture their rich history, pride, and close relationship as neighbours and partners. This first-ever two-coin set features a Royal Canadian Mint One Ounce Silver Maple Leaf Coin with a modified proof finish and a United States Mint American Eagle One Ounce Silver Coin with an enhanced reverse proof finish. Modified Proof Finish : A proof coin is one with the highest possible qualitya frosted image is struck against a brilliant background as many as three times to achieve an incredibly crisp impression with amazing detail. The inscriptions on a proof coin are normally frosted. The inscriptions, however, have the same natural shine of silver as the other design elements instead of a frosted appearance, creating a “modified” proof finish. Enhanced Reverse Proof Finish: A standard reverse proof coin is one featuring an “inverted” proof finish. The background is frosted, while the design elements are polished to the same mirror-like finish, creating a magnificent contrast. An “enhanced” reverse proof coin has the same frosted background as a reverse proof, but different design element finishes. The American Eagle Silver Enhanced Reverse Proof Coin has multiple polished and frosted finishes assigned to different isolated design elements. The selective polishing and frosting dramatically enhances the visual impact of its designs. Both finishes were created specifically for the coins featured in this set. 99.99% pure silver. Centuries ago, the Chinese invented a calendar based on the lunar (rather than the solar) cycle. There are twelve animals in the Chinese lunar zodiac, each corresponding in sequence to a year rather than a month. In 2013 we celebrate the Year of the Snake. According to tradition, people born during a Year of the Snake (1905, 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, and 2013) are said to exhibit that animals attributes. Snake people often enjoy new ideas, innovative thoughts and progress, but some will reject advice from anyone but to themselves, although, most snake people are loyal friends and make great company. The Snake is strongly associated with deep mysticism, valuable wisdom, and knowledge. Most snake people are enigmatic, deep thinking, and maybe the wisest of all Chinese Horoscope signs. Most snake people enjoy learning, reading, and eating good food. They can also be concerned about their outer appearance. Best attribute is their excellent ability to communicate with others and successfully engage in interesting conversations. For the Chinese people, the snake symbolizes intelligence, happiness and auspiciousness. In certain parts of China people call the snake the dragon in heaven or celestial being. At Dangfu in East Chinas Anhui Province, people call the snake the dragon at home. This is the sixth annual release in the Lunar Zodiac Series II from Australia! Its forked tongue protruding, hangs from a tree branch. The legend YEAR OF THE SNAKE defines the theme. The Chinese character for “Snake” is to the right, while the Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark is judiciously placed to the right, near the 3:00 position along the rim. The reverse of all three coins features Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II of England. In crowned profile facing right. The loon’s haunting calls are one the quintessential sound of the Canadian wilderness in summer. Canada’s Coat of Arms: The Canadian Coat of Arms, proclaimed in 1921 and modified in 1996, reminds Canadians of our diverse heritage. It features images from France (the fleur-de-lis), England (the three royal lions and rose), Scotland (a lion and thistle) and Ireland (the Irish harp and shamrock). Caribou: An enduring symbol of the Canadian north, the majestically-antlered caribou has remained a Canadian icon since first appearing on the twenty-five-cent piece in 1937. In 1921, Atlantic Canadians built one of the finest racing and fishing vessels in Canadian history, the. Beaver: The beaver is Canada’s national animal. Highly sought after for its rich fur in the 17th and 18th centuries, it was the mainstay of the colonial economy for centuries. Today, the beaver is revered as a symbol of hard work and perseverance. Starting in 1902, the Ottawa Mint building project suffered a few setbacks that delayed its opening several times. One such setback: the architects forgot to include a security fence in the design! The Mint’s dedicated circulation coin manufacturing facility, now located in Winnipeg, was originally slated for Ottawa. The Winnipeg mint opened in 1976. In 1931, the Royal Mint in Ottawa was transferred to the Canadian government, becoming the Royal Canadian Mint. The Mint began re-designing circulation coinage shortly thereafter. The Mint’s high-speed plant in Winnipeg strikes more than one billion circulation coins each year. Its presses can strike up to 750coins per second! Fine silver collector versions of Canada’s circulation coins are struck in Ottawa. Your set of Canadian coinage and medallion are safely enclosed in a leather-style book packaging that provides an elegant presentation time and time again, whether you’re proudly showcasing or repeatedly admiring this treasured addition to your collection! 99.99 % pure silver. Proof (reverse), reverse proof (obverse). Kristin McPherson (reverse and obverse). 99.99% pure silver with gold-plated inner core. (reverse), Susanna Blunt (obverse). 99.99% pure silver, gold plated. 99.99% pure silver. I do leave feedback for everyone.
