This set is based on the Sir Edward Thomason of England set of medals; Sir Edward Thomason created a set of 60 large 78mm biblical medals in the early 1800’s that were based on paintings of the old masters. The Franklin Mint adapted these designs to 45mm medals, and selected new biblical quotations for the reverse. This silver version of this set is much rarer than its bronze counterpart. Every aspect of this set is original and has been carefully stored. There is some evidence of age on the corners, and one coin has a slight bend above it (see picture). The silver is tarnished, but every coin is perfectly in place. Each coin is encased in plastic enclosed in heavy cardboard covered with red leather. Name of each coin is stamped in gold below. There are five cardboard pages, twelve coins per page, for a total of sixty (60) in this collection. Coins include Adam giving names to every beast and fowl (adapted from the art of Paolo Veronese) to the way through the Ascension of Jesus Christ (adapted from the art of Caravaggio).
